Relay Race 4 Life Night at JMS, Saturday June 29, 2013 was a great night for two lucky Relay For Life teams! Each team brought baskets to auction for their team and donations of baskets were received from Kelsey Hofmann of Eclipse Salon in Aurora and Bobbi Jo Roberts of Salon 18 in Aurora.
Winners of the basket auction were read off during intermission. Hats off to all those who bid and to the winners which include: Judy Miller-Weiand, Susette Alley, Cheryl Ratzlaff, Laura Lea, Taelynne Roberts, Kelsey Hofmann, Laurie Johnson, Kim Epp, Cathy Shaw and Mandi Oswald.
A Relay race between Team Inspired and Team Henderson was held at intermission with #71 bmod driver Rocky Zimmerman and #69 bmod driver Tony Rost taking part. Rocky paired with Kim Epp of Team Henderson for the first “leg” of the 3 legged relay race. They ran from the south end of the grandstands to the flag stand meeting up with a Team Henderson teammate for the second “leg” of the race to the North end of the grandstands. Crystal Lukes paired up with Tony Rost for her first leg of the relay race meeting her Team Inspired teammate at the flag stand where her and Tony then continued on to victory at the North end of the grandstands. The winning team from the 3 legged Relay Race won half of the proceeds from the 50/50 tickets sales.
After the first A feature was run, the winning ticket number for the 50/50 was read off with Mr George Lee as the winning tickets holder. Upon verifying that the numbers matched and getting handed $341 dollars, Mr Lee decided to give the money to the Relay For Life and American Cancer Society! It was decided to give that half to Team Henderson for being such good sports in the 3 legged Relay Race. Both teams walked away with $579 to add to their team’s Relay For Life total.
3 drivers on the night also donated half of their winnings to the cause as well. #52 4 cylinder driver David Dembowski, #3x and #28n modified drivers Bob Lawson and Dan Neeman. Bob and Dan are driving for Relay For Life-breast cancer awareness all season long too. Check out the ribbons on their cars;)
Thank you to all who supported this wonderful event and make sure to have regular checkups!
