Funeral services for Mike were held Saturday May 3rd at Metz Mortuary in York at 10 a.m. Closed casket visitation, as per Mikes wishes, was held from 5-9 p.m Thursday, and from 9 a.m to 9 p.m on Friday, with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
The funeral processional was led by Ray Reichert driving Mike’s 32′ Plymouth to Greenwood cemetary. Once there, race cars were lined up awaiting the signal to make the ground rumble one last time for “Chicken Streaker”. Once drivers got the signal drag cars, mini/junior sprints, mods, bmods, hobby stocks, late models and 4 cylinders roared to life to make the ground rumble one last time for the man, the myth, the Chicken Streaker who was Mike Chapin.
